Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery

The Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery provides skilled nursing care to postpartum patients within a high-risk obstetric and culturally diverse environment. The role involves patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality care. This position requires at least one year of relevant experience, a California RN license, and the ability to float within scope to meet facility needs. Strong communication and adaptability in a fast-paced setting are essential. Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to postpartum patients, including assessments and medication administration.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement treatment plans.
• Circulate during cesarean sections as required.
• Manage patient care for a census averaging 15-20 patients daily, across 11 rooms and 15 beds.
• Meet staffing needs by floating within the scope of practice as a first priority among travelers.
• Maintain documentation and communicate patient status effectively.
• Adhere to facility policies and procedures regarding patient care and safety.

• Active Registered Nurse license in California (pending licenses not accepted).
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in postpartum or obstetrics.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, culturally diverse, and high-risk OB environment.

• Experience circulating in cesarean sections.
• Previous experience in labor and delivery or postpartum nursing.
• Familiarity with floating to other units within nursing scope.

• Weekend work is required to meet staffing needs.
• Travel nurses are expected to float first within their scope to support facility needs.
• Return to Office (RTO) restrictions limit assignments to no more than 7 days.
• Care is provided for high-risk obstetric patients.
• Cancellation of assignments after signature may result in a systemwide Do Not Return (DNR) status.

• Start date: ASAP.
• Shift patterns include weekend requirements and floating assignments as needed.
• Typical patient load includes 20 visits per day with an average daily census of 15-20 patients.
