Machine Operator II

This opportunity is located within our Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense Company business, a global leader of mission-critical hardware and systems solutions including precision energetics systems and innovative explosive solutions.Job DescriptionMachine Operator II is an important member of the team that builds our products. This position produces high quality linear energetic product in accordance with specific engineering drawings and manufacturing instructions. Machine Operator II is responsible for safety, quality and delivery of products for our Aerospace and Defense markets. This role will report to the Production Supervisor of Linear & Transfer Systems in our Simsbury, CT location on flex shift.Responsibilities:• Responsible for set up, configuration, and operation of roll forming mill to form linear energetic products in accordance with documented specifications• Operate wire sheath extrusion machines• Operate machines that load and reduce linear energetic product in accordance with specifications• Perform fabrication of linear energetic product as defined in Manufacturing Instructions using machinery and tooling• Clean, measure, cut, sample, spool, coil and pack product• Maintain quality and accuracy requirements• Perform all safety and quality checks on the equipment• Work with engineering team to develop new manufacturing procedures for linear energetic products• Contribute towards continuous improvement initiatives• Maintain a safe and orderly work environmentRequirements:• Excels in a dynamic, changeable work environment• Energetic and positive attitude• Ability to work independently• Certificate or greater in machining related field, or prior machine setup and/or metal working machine experience (1 year), or roll forming operator experience (1 year)• High School diploma or equivalent• Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions in English• Must be able to pass company administered competency test• Demonstrate capability to use basic measuring tools (Calipers, micrometer, etc.)• Demonstrate capability to read and understand engineering drawings (preferred)• Experience using Optical Comparators/Shadowgraphs (preferred)• Background using 5S/lean manufacturing principles (preferred)The physical activities of this position include work lifting up to 50 pounds on a consistent basis, walking, standing, sitting, reaching, kneeling, talking and hearing.
