Mechanical Engineer

Location Toledo, OH Summary of Responsibilities Designing and specifying mechanical equipment and systems such as piping, vessels, rotating equipment, and conveyors. Leading and supporting reliability improvement initiatives. Monitoring equipment health and plant reliability performance. Applying industry standards and codes (API, ASME, ANSI, and NACE). Conducting equipment failure investigations and Root Cause Analyses (RCA). Utilizing predictive maintenance technologies, including vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasonics, NDE/NDT inspection methods, and motor circuit analysis. Reviewing maintenance data and CMMS information to optimize preventive maintenance programs. Supporting operations and maintenance teams with troubleshooting and technical guidance. Managing equipment reliability strategies and equipment resisters. Developing capital project justifications, budgets, and cost-saving initiatives. Coordinating with third-party reliability service providers. Establishing Key Processing "Best Practices" to improve profitability, including operating conditions, hardware change recommendations, monitoring process conditions, and unit performance reporting/comparison (benchmarking). Analyzing operational and maintenance equipment history to deliver improvements in critical maintenance related metrics and KPI's. Writing work orders and providing input to execution of work where required. Directing and coordinating the work performed by operating employees as required for new equipment installations or testing to ensure conformity to engineering design and specifications. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. 3+ years of plant-level maintenance mechanical engineering experience with mechanical systems in the petrochemical, metals, or mineral processing industry. Knowledge of machinery design, statistics and project management required. Excellent computer skills with high proficiency while working within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and utilizes its functionality to correlate the data for reliability analysis. Experience in predictive technologies such as NDE/NDT, oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasonics, and motor circuit analysis. Effectively communicate both orally and through written text. Ability to read and constructively influence personnel in cross functional groups. Ability to work under minimal supervision and effectively manage multiple/changing priorities. Demonstrated equipment troubleshooting skills. Demonstrated skills with capital justification, budget development, expenditure and controls. Occasionally lifting up to 25lbs. Mobility required; must be able to handle stairs and long periods of work on your feet. Routinely exposed to plant environment including noise, dust, dirt and vibrations, extreme climate changes / changes in weather. Ability to work at heights.
