Structural Steel Fitters / Fabricators – 1st Shift

Location: Birmingham / Trussville, AL
Pay: $26.00–$30.00/hour, based on experience
Shift: 1st Shift | Full-Time

Crucial Link is hiring  multiple experienced Structural Steel Fitters / Fabricators and Welder/Fitters for a well-established Birmingham-area equipment manufacturer.

If you have experience with  structural steel fabrication, heavy plate, MIG welding, blueprint reading, layout and fit-up , we want to talk to you.

What You'll Be Doing

• Fit and assemble  structural steel and heavy plate components
• Read and work from  blueprints, fabrication drawings and specifications
• Perform  layout and fit-up of fabricated steel components
• Measure, position and align components before welding
• Tack weld and MIG weld as needed during the fabrication and fitting process
• Use grinders, torches, saws and other standard  metal fabrication equipment
• Check dimensions, fit and overall quality of completed work
• Build custom industrial equipment and larger fabricated assemblies

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a  Structural Steel Fitter, Plate Fitter, Steel Fabricator, Welder/Fitter or similar fabrication role
• Experience working with  structural steel and/or heavy plate
• Strong  blueprint reading skills
• Experience with  layout, fabrication and fit-up
• MIG welding and tack welding experience
• Ability to accurately use tape measures and other measuring tools
• Ability to work independently from drawings and specifications
• Must have own basic tools
• Dependable, safety-minded and takes pride in quality work
