Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical/Surgical (Med/Surg)Department: Medical/SurgicalEmployment Type: TemporaryFLSA Status: Non-ExemptReports To: Nurse Manager, Med/SurgPay: Days - $65/hr, Nights - $70/hrPosition SummaryVista Health is seeking a compassionate and patient-focused Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical/Surgical team. The RN is responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care by assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, administering treatments and medications, monitoring patient progress, educating patients and families, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team to promote positive outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesAssess, monitor, and document patient conditions and responses to treatment.Develop, implement, and update individualized plans of care.Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately.Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge instructions.Recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with nursing, organizational, and regulatory standards.Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and professional development activities.Supervise and coordinate patient care activities with Patient Care Technicians and Unit Secretaries as assigned.QualificationsEducationGraduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.BSN preferred.Experience2+ years of nursing experience preferred.Licensure & CertificationsCurrent Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license required.Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.ACLS certification within six (6) months of hire.NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification within thirty (30) days of hire.SkillsTelemetry rhythm recognition competency required.Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.Basic computer proficiency.Strong organizational and time-management abilities.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.Work EnvironmentFrequent standing, walking, lifting, and direct patient care activities.Daily exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases.Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.Personal protective equipment (PPE) required as appropriate.Additional RequirementsFloating to other units may be required based on operational needs.On-call and call-in support may be required.Why Join Vista Health?Join a dedicated team committed to delivering exceptional patient care in a collaborative and supportive environment.
