Facilities Project Manager

Job Title: Facilities Mgr Projects I Job Family: Facilities & Safety Services Level: G Remote Option Availability: Onsite Responsibilities Lead and manage multiple critical maintenance projects funded by the State University Construction Fund, ensuring project success criteria are met. Develop project plans, steer projects through University, State, and municipal approval processes, and lead architect/engineer selection and procurement. Oversee design management, including interdisciplinary reviews for constructability and code compliance. Prepare front‑end bid documents and contracts to ensure compliance with University and State requirements. Manage project budgets, track financial performance, and control costs. Supervise construction and other project contracts through punch list, closeout, and final acceptance. Prioritize workload independently to meet stakeholder needs and align with project schedules. Utilize proprietary project management software (Trimble) for all project-related activities. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all project stakeholders, including customers, University administrators, staff, faculty, state agencies, AE firms, and contractors. Success Factors Demonstrated budget management using established principles, tools, and techniques. Proficiency in contract management and administration, applying policies, standards, and processes to diverse agreements. Deep industry knowledge of current trends, regulatory considerations, and key issues. Ability to manage multiple priorities through effective self‑management, prioritization, and time allocation. Expertise in project planning, organizing, monitoring, and controlling to achieve objectives. Exceptional stakeholder relationship management, building productive partnerships through communication, facilitation, and mentorship. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience. Experience in commercial and institutional construction, managing the entire project lifecycle. Minimum of five to seven years of project management experience covering Planning & Development, Procurement, Design, Construction, and Closeout. Proven ability to drive projects to successful conclusions in collaborative and politically sensitive environments. Capacity to manage multiple complex projects with varying scope and stages. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Working knowledge of Trimble project management software. Familiarity with NYS Building Codes, National Electrical Code, and NFPA standards. Valid US driver’s license; valid motor‑vehicle operation may be required for travel to job sites. Experience incorporating perspectives of multiple communities and modeling inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in a related field, or New York State Licensed Engineer or Registered Architect. Project management experience on a university campus. Experience managing public capital projects such as SUNY/SUCF. Certification: CMAA Construction Manager or PMI Project Management Professional (PMP).
