Surgical Tech II

Role Overview: The Surgical Technician performs specialized technical duties in the operating or procedural environment under supervision. They assist the surgical team by preparing equipment, ensuring a safe aseptic environment, and verifying proper functioning of instruments and supplies. Key Responsibilities Assist in patient procedure preparation, arranging instruments, drapes, and solutions for efficiency. Ensure surgical instruments and equipment operate correctly during procedures. Maintain strict aseptic protocols, label and dispatch medications and solutions per policies. Participate in specimen management, correctly identifying and forwarding specimens. Prepare equipment and supplies, perform counts, and manage time effectively. Attend meetings and in-services, follow schedules, and demonstrate good attendance. Adhere to infection control policies, OSHA guidelines, and other safety regulations. Perform additional duties to support optimal patient care and team performance. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED; completion of an accredited Surgical Technician program. Preferred: One year of surgical technician experience. Certifications required: Surgical Technician Certification by recognized boards, Basic Life Support (BLS). Only one of the following certifications is required: NBSTSA or NCT Surgical Technician Certification, or U.S. Military/Public Health Service Surgical Technology Program. Skills & Requirements Knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and aseptic techniques. Dexterity and attention to detail in handling instruments and specimens. Ability to work independently, follow policies, and demonstrate effective time management.
