About the Role:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Surgery at Wagoner Community Hospital plays a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. This position involves collaborating with surgeons, registered nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive comprehensive care tailored to their individual needs. The LPN will be responsible for monitoring patients' vital signs, administering medications, and assisting in surgical preparations, all while maintaining a sterile environment. Additionally, the LPN will educate patients and their families about post-operative care and recovery processes. Ultimately, the LPN's contributions are vital to enhancing patient outcomes and ensuring a smooth surgical experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current and valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Oklahoma.
• Completion of an accredited practical nursing program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in a surgical or operating room setting.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing patients for surgery by conducting pre-operative assessments and ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes to the surgical team during procedures.
• Administer medications and IV fluids as directed by the supervising nurse or physician.
• Maintain a sterile environment and assist in the setup and breakdown of surgical instruments and equipment.
• Provide post-operative care by monitoring recovery, managing pain, and educating patients on aftercare instructions.
