Location: Albany, NY Category: Faculty Job Type: Full-time Posted On: Mon May 12 2025 Job Description: The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University at Albany, State University of New York, seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor in Hispanic Linguistics for one year to begin in Fall 2025, teaching 3/3. PhD in Hispanic linguistics in hand by August 15, 2025. Primary areas of specialization are Spanish for the professions, and second/ heritage language acquisition. Preference will be given to candidates that better complement existing strengths in the program. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated evidence of high-quality research and teaching. Native or near native fluency in Spanish and English are required. Job Requirements Minimum Qualifications A Ph.D. in Spanish Linguistics from a college or university accredited by a U.S. Department of Education or internationally recognized organization by 9/1/2025. Candidates who will not hold the degree by this date will not be considered. Applicants must demonstrate an ability to develop inclusive and equitable relationships within our diverse campus community. Native or native-like competence in Spanish and English. at least three years of experience teaching Spanish and Spanish linguistics classes at the collegiate level. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching Spanish for the health professions and Business and legal Spanish.
