Visiting Assistant Professor in Computer Science

Position The Computer Science Department within the College of Nanotechnology, Science, and Engineering at the University at Albany, SUNY, is seeking a full‑time Visiting Lecturer for the 2025‑2026 academic year, with possible renewal for AY26‑27. The position is located in Albany, NY and will begin in the fall of 2025. Primary Responsibilities Teach a three‑three teaching load of foundational undergraduate computer science courses. Develop and improve courses and deliver engaging, inclusive instruction. Advise students and serve on departmental committees. Participate in department, college, and university‑level service activities. Functional and Supervisory Relationships Reports to the Chair of Computer Sciences. No direct reports at present, though additional supervisory duties may be assigned if available. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications MS in Computer Science or related field from an accredited institution. Strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success. Effective communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Willingness and experience in remote or online teaching. Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in Computer Science or related area. Prior college or university teaching experience. Working Environment Courses may be scheduled after 5 pm on weekdays. Occasional evening and weekend work to support events and community activities. Travel within and beyond New York State may be necessary. Salary and Appointment Visiting Assistant Professor (10 month appointment). Salary range: $77,700–$112,200 (based on experience and rank).
