Construction Project Accountant / Billing Specialist

Schedule: On-site Compensation range: 70,000-80,000 DOE Position Overview Construction Project Accountant / Billing Specialist Location: San Fernando Valley, CA Schedule: On-site Compensation range: 70,000-80,000 DOE We are seeking an experienced Construction Project Accountant / Billing Specialist to support accounting and billing activities for active construction projects. This position will work closely with Controllers, Project Managers, subcontractors, vendors, and other project stakeholders to ensure accurate billing, timely payments, proper job costing, and complete project documentation. Responsibilities Manage construction-related accounts payable and accounts receivable Prepare, review, and process project and progress billings Process subcontractor/vendor invoices and ensure proper job and cost-code allocation Assist with or prepare AIA billing, including G702/G703 applications Work with Project Managers to review project billing, costs, and percentage of completion Track and obtain conditional and unconditional lien releases/waivers Review supporting documentation before subcontractor payments are released Maintain subcontractor and vendor compliance documentation, including Certificates of Insurance (COIs) Track project contracts, change orders, commitments, and related documentation Assist with preliminary notices, joint checks, and subcontractor compliance as applicable Reconcile project costs, research discrepancies, and maintain accurate accounting records Support project draws, closeout documentation, reporting, and audits Communicate with subcontractors, vendors, Project Managers, and accounting leadership regarding billing and payment issues Qualifications 3+ years of accounting, billing, or project accounting experience, preferably within construction or general contracting Experience with construction AP/AR, project billing, job costing, or subcontractor accounting Familiarity with AIA billing/G702/G703 strongly preferred Experience with lien releases, pay applications, change orders, COIs, or other construction compliance documentation is highly desirable Strong Excel skills and comfort learning accounting/ERP systems Experience with construction accounting platforms such as Deltek, GCPAY, Procore, Sage, Foundation, Viewpoint, or similar systems is a plus Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Comfortable communicating directly with Project Managers, subcontractors, vendors, and accounting leadership Able to work independently and research and resolve billing discrepancies Equal Opportunity Notice Highspring LLC (d/b/a Vaco by Highspring) and its parents, affiliates, and subsidiaries ("we," "our," or "Vaco by Highspring") are committed to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race (including but not limited to traits historically associated with race such as hair texture and hair style), color, sex (includes pregnancy or related conditions), religion or creed, national origin, citizenship, age, disability, status as a veteran, union membership, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, marital status, political affiliation, or any other protected characteristics as required by applicable law.
