Health & Wellness Specialist

Description Corewell Health Place locations in downtown Grand Rapids. Team members may be scheduled to work at either 648 Monroe Ave or 275 Michigan Street, depending on business needs. Applicants should be comfortable working at both locations. Position Summary The Health & Wellness Specialist provides fitness equipment orientations, promotes YMCA health and wellness services, maintains and cleans equipment, and enforces recreation guidelines. Varying schedule, Monday through Friday shifts available in the early morning, afternoon, and evening. Essential Functions Demonstrates proper equipment use and exercise form Monitors member activities on the fitness equipment, indoor track, gym floor and locker rooms. Maintains all areas in clean, presentable fashion Provides outstanding member service Give tours to prospective members Handles member complaints Stays current with advances in the health and wellness field Sets up equipment for group exercise and various sports activities. Enforces YMCA member guidelines. Performs any other functions deemed necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Compensation $14.35 - $17.93 ; Part Time; Non Exempt (up to 25hrs/week) Benefits Free YMCA Individual Membership – Enjoy full access to facilities. This location requires highly qualified Health & Wellness Specialists, therefore it is required that candidates are either currently pursuing a health and wellness related degree, hold a health and wellness related degree, and/or have an active Personal Training Certification. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Ability to actively take part and lead fitness activities. Working knowledge of computers and experience with a variety of software applications. YMCA experience preferred.
