Women of the Dream Job Opening: Chief of Executive Officer Women of the Dream seeks a visionary, strategic and exceptional leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Women of the Dream (WOD) is a 501-C-3 organization that provides program services to girls in grades 7-12 in Camden, NJ. Our model is school based in that program services are coordinated and implemented through partnerships with Camden’s public schools, and all program services occur at schools during school hours. We envision a world in which all girls and young women, regardless of race, ethnicity, income level or social status, are nurtured and empowered to reach their fullest potential. Our goal is to empower, cultivate and inspire young women in the city of Camden, New Jersey, and beyond to succeed in every aspect of their lives. Job Summary WOD is looking for an experienced and dedicated chief executive officer who has a passion for programs and services that empower girls. The CEO is the leader of the organization, establishing a vision for Community Impact that is achieved through the efforts of a diverse team of high-performing leaders, staff and volunteers. The CEO leverages the power of relationships and networks, and works across private, public and corporate sectors to improve conditions for participants of Women of the Dream. Dedication to shared and measurable goals for the common good — creating, resourcing, scaling and leveraging strategies for broad investment and impact. The CEO is the steward of Women of the Dream and understands the role in growing and protecting the reputation of Women of the Dream. She is responsible for building trust in Women of the Dream and its relevance in the community. A strong value to build a network and strive to grow Women of the Dream’s community presence, relationships, strategy and impact. Essential Functions Community Impact The CEO is responsible for the overall impact of Women of the Dream in the community. The CEO works closely with the Board to craft and adapt the strategy to achieve increased impact, including raising the funds to support it. She will establish and build relationships with leaders in the community. Resource Development The CEO is charged to drive key results in fundraising; to identify, cultivate and solicit prospective donors and key leaders of prospective new corporate partners; to leverage personal and professional contacts and relationships into fundraising opportunities; and to promote a culture of fundraising in the organization, both at the staff and board level. Grant research, writing and maintenance are key elements to build on the fundraising platform. Strategic Management The CEO serves as the principal resource to the Board of Directors and its key committees and gives strong direction in policy formulation and interpretation. She partners with the Board of Directors to craft organizational goals and develops strategies to ensure that they are achieved. Ensuring coordination and alignment of all activities to strategic direction in the areas of community impact, resource development, and staff alignment. Financial Management The CEO manages the organization’s finances, including setting the organization’s financial strategy, budgeting, grant management, financial reporting, managing risks and communicating performance to the Board of Directors and stakeholders. Organization Management The CEO is accountable for building and leading high-performing teams, ensuring all teams are aligned and collaborating to achieve organizational results. Maintaining accountability for the operational and fiscal integrity of the organization within policies set by the Board of Directors. General Responsibilities Responsible for planning, organization, and direction of the organization’s operations and programs. Monitor and ensure the continued facilitation of the organization’s programs and services as necessary. Supervises the organization’s Program Director who manages the day-to-day operation of programming including, program focused staff and volunteers. Develops and implements consistent inventory and cost accounting policies, procedures, and operational reporting/metrics. Oversees and reports on the organization’s results for Board of Directors. Prepares accurate and timely analyses that capture and communicate fundraising results, variances, and performance trends. Provides leadership to and manages the efforts of site staff to ensure appropriate support of all departments. Supervises the development of operations-based financial modeling. Coordinates and leads annual budget reviews, monthly and quarterly reviews, and periodic forecast updates. Identify funding prospects and effectively communicate impact, outcomes, strategies, and resource needs. Ensure all programs are operating within budget and any variances are addressed and corrected Review and negotiate vendor contracts. Approves major systems implementations. Retains a diverse, highly qualified staff and volunteers by providing growth opportunities, and personal development for workers. Ensures that services and funding relationships are robust enough to meet or exceed strategic goals and objectives. Required Skills and Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree Passion for programs and services that empower girls and a commitment to WOD’s mission Proven success working with community and corporate partners as well as local, state and federal entities Extensive experience working in a school-based model where program services are coordinated and implemented through partnerships with a school system, and all program services occur at schools during school hours. Familiarity with life skills training, career development and trauma counseling Strong knowledge of financial and organizational management Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and written and oral communication skills Ability to be a team builder, creative thinker and problem solver Familiarity with social media and marketing Experience managing teams, including employees and volunteers Working Conditions The position requires the ability to work full-time five days per week during the school year and on weekends for special activities and events. The CEO must interact with school district officials and personnel, partners, grantors, participants, and their parents in a positive and professional manner. She frequently represents WOD during school district and partnership meetings, programs and events, or other initiatives. Salary/Benefits This is a full-time position. WOD anticipates an annual salary of $70,000. A comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, dental, and vision is also provided.
