About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Personal Injury / Medical Malpractice Litigation Paralegal to join a plaintiff-focused legal team representing individuals who have suffered serious injuries or losses.

The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of New York plaintiff personal injury and medical malpractice litigation , understands litigation procedures and medical terminology, and can manage complex cases from intake through settlement or trial.

This is a hands-on role working directly with attorneys while serving as a primary point of contact for clients throughout the life of their case. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently, managing competing priorities, meeting strict deadlines, and providing compassionate, professional service to clients who may be experiencing difficult circumstances.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Screen and assist with the intake of new matters
• Manage plaintiff personal injury and medical malpractice cases from intake through settlement or trial
• Track litigation deadlines, court appearances, depositions, discovery, scheduling, and compliance conferences
• Prepare and draft legal documents, including:
• Summonses and Complaints
• Bills of Particulars
• Discovery demands and responses
• Basic motions and motion support documents
• Authorizations and subpoenas
• Trial exhibits and trial binders
• Gather, review, and organize medical records, medical billing records, lien information, and expert materials
• Coordinate with clients, medical providers, experts, and opposing counsel
• Schedule depositions and assist with deposition preparation
• Assist attorneys with expert exchanges, mediation submissions, and trial preparation
• File documents electronically through NYSCEF
• Maintain accurate electronic and physical case files
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, deadlines, and document collection
• Support attorneys throughout all stages of litigation

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years of experience in New York plaintiff personal injury and/or medical malpractice litigation
• Strong knowledge of New York State litigation and filing requirements
• Hands-on experience with NYSCEF
• Strong ability to review, organize, and manage medical records
• Excellent legal drafting, organizational, and multitasking skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and client-service skills
• Ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with clients who may be injured, stressed, or grieving
• Highly organized, self-directed, and able to work independently
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Paralegal certificate or Bachelor's degree preferred
• 5 years of relevant litigation paralegal experience preferred

COMPENSATION:

$27.00-$35.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
