Second-Shift Quality Inspector
Location: Butler, WI (In-Person)
Compensation: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour
Employment Type: Full-Time, 2nd Shift
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join our growing second-shift manufacturing team. Reporting directly to Quality Leadership, this role is vital to ensuring all manufactured components and complex assemblies adhere strictly to client specifications and rigorous industry standards. You will perform routine, high-precision inspection procedures, analyze samples, and maintain comprehensive quality documentation to support our regulatory compliance and certified manufacturing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Floor & Production Inspection: Conduct independent in-process and final inspections on-site for internal production, client materials, and supplier parts utilizing official prints, guides, and procedures.
- Data Management: Input, update, and track detailed inspection metrics within dedicated Process Sheets.
- Defect Control: Identify non-conforming materials and issue Material Review Board (MRB) tickets through the corporate ERP system.
- Internal Communication: Partner closely with Shift Production Supervisors to report non-conformance findings and clarify Visual Inspection Criteria (VIC) for floor operators.
- Special Projects: Assist the quality management team with targeted auditing or continuous improvement initiatives as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 1 to 3 years of dedicated quality inspection experience within a manufacturing environment (required).
- Technical Math & Metrology: Proficient in standard shop math, including metric/English conversions, fractions, decimals, and scientific notation. Hands-on experience using precise measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, scales, etc.).
- Blueprint Literacy: Ability to interpret technical drawings, extract engineering dimensions, locate tolerance blocks, and verify part numbers and revision levels.
- Visual Acuity: Strong visual accuracy, including the specific ability to differentiate colors using reference chips and standards.
- Technical Aptitude: Basic proficiency with MS Excel (data entry, file management) and familiarity with computerized quality equipment (e.g., optical comparators, microscopes, coordinate measuring machines).
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior exposure to structured quality frameworks such as ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 medical device standards.
- Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
