Job Title: General Production Worker
Job Description

This position supports a high-volume blown film manufacturing operation that produces plastic film used in agricultural, medical, and industrial applications. As a General Production Worker, you help run one of several blown film lines by packaging plastic rolls, monitoring product quality, and assisting with basic machine-related tasks. The role is labor-intensive and fast paced, requiring consistent attention to detail, safe work habits, and the ability to handle repetitive tasks while maintaining production and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Help run one of three blown film production lines in a fast-paced, labor-intensive environment.
• Operate and assist with equipment used to convert large plastic rolls into smaller rolls according to specifications.
• Use a shaft hoist safely to handle and move rolls of plastic film.
• Perform core loading, including taping and tagging cores accurately.
• Handle rolls efficiently, including lifting, moving, and positioning plastic rolls weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Package and palletize rolls and finished products according to customer specifications and company production standards.
• Replace trims and perform barrel switching or changing when product containers need to be updated.
• Label, box, and load 50-pound plastic rolls as a primary daily activity.
• Change out cutting knives on the machine as needed, following safety and quality procedures.
• Package rolls after indexing them from one core to another, or monitor and maintain machines that index rolls automatically.
• Observe rolls for splices, defects, and changes, and ensure all products meet quality standards.
• Work closely with other packers and production team members to keep production lines running smoothly.
• Ensure correct counts of rolls, film, and supplies in accordance with job specifications.
• Notify the lead or supervisor immediately when production defects or quality issues occur.
• Assist the lead or supervisor with production line changeovers and setting up or putting up production lines.
• Follow all quality specifications and procedures when packing and handling products.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area at all times.
• Monitor and load the scrap conveyor, responding promptly when a loud buzzer indicates excessive scrap buildup.
• Sustain established productivity and quality standards on a consistent basis.
• Follow all OSHA requirements and safety standards while performing job duties.
• Adapt to changing priorities and multi-task effectively in a growing production environment.

• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts with availability every other weekend.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
• Ability to stand for 8–12 hours during a shift in a production environment.
• Essential reading and writing skills to follow work instructions, labels, and safety procedures.
• Minimum one year of experience in an industrial environment preferred.
• Experience with automated manufacturing equipment preferred.
• General labor and machine operation experience in a production or manufacturing setting.
• Ability to perform packaging and palletizing tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Basic math skills to verify counts, quantities, and production requirements.
• Ability to identify defective or nonconforming product during visual inspection.
• Comfort using hand tools safely, including tools required for changing cutting knives.
• Willingness and physical ability to perform labor-intensive and repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience in plastics extrusion, blown film, plastic film, or plastic injection environments.
• Background in operating or assisting with plastic processing equipment.
• Experience with machine operation in manufacturing, including setup and basic adjustments.
• Familiarity with forklifts or other material handling equipment.
• Experience with inspection and quality control activities in a production setting.
• Ability to work collaboratively with leads, supervisors, and other packers to support continuous production.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when labeling, tagging, and packaging products.
• Comfort working with alarms and indicators, such as scrap conveyor buzzers, and responding promptly.
• Willingness to learn and grow into more advanced machine operation roles, including potential progression to co-lead responsibilities.

Work Environment

This role is based in a clean, modern blown film manufacturing facility that produces plastic film for agricultural, medical, and industrial applications. The production area is generally well maintained and kept up to date, but it is not climate controlled; temperatures can become warm during the summer due to the heat generated by melting resin beads. Employees work 12-hour rotating shifts, including every other weekend, and spend most of their time on their feet performing labor-intensive tasks such as lifting, packaging, and handling 50-pound rolls. The environment is fast paced and requires the ability to adjust to changing priorities and multi-task effectively. Production workers regularly interact with automated manufacturing equipment, shaft hoists, scrap conveyors, cutting knives, and other machinery, and they follow OSHA safety standards at all times to maintain a safe and efficient workplace.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hudson, WI.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
