Principal Associate, Construction Loan Administration - Community Finance

Role Summary A Principal Associate in the Community Finance Construction Loan Administration (CLA) Team manages a medium‑to‑large portfolio of standard and complex construction loans, primarily composed of multifamily low‑income housing tax credit (LIHTC) transactions. The role involves full responsibility for performing monthly due diligence on borrower draw requisitions, verifying documentation, tracking and balancing budgeted sources and uses, and ensuring compliance with loan agreement requirements while mitigating risk. Key Responsibilities

• Administer the entire loan lifecycle, from reviewing transaction documentation and attending closing calls to setting up the initial draw process.
• Process monthly draw requisitions with full due diligence, manage bank‑controlled accounts (BCAs), track budgets, change orders, and equity contributions.
• Handle general ledger transactions, interest payments, and insurance compliance.
• Monitor loan maturities, coordinate extensions, process payoffs, and execute permanent loan conversions.
• Lead team training, onboard new members, and drive strategic process improvement projects.

Basic Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification At least 3 years of experience in construction loan management At least 3 years of experience in accounting and loan operations, including direct preparation, review, or processing of loan documents Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or military experience 5+ years of experience in construction loan management Experience with construction lending, LIHTC investment, or syndication Strong critical thinking, credit analysis, and problem‑solving skills Salary Information McLean, VA: $108,900 – $124,300 Chicago, IL: $98,900 – $112,900 Benefits Capital One offers a comprehensive, competitive, and inclusive set of health, financial, and other benefits that support overall well‑being.
