Sous Chef

The Chi chapter of Tri Delta at the University of Mississippi is actively looking for a Sous Chef who will collaborate with the Head Chef to improve meal presentation and operation of the kitchen in order to create a premier living experience for Tri Delta's collegiate members.The ideal candidate will be an experienced sous chef who is highly self-motivated with great attention to detail. The role will be responsible for operating the kitchen for five 8 hour shifts per week including weekends as assigned for special events.If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, are passionate about your work, and love being a part of a team, we would love for you to apply!Status: Full-Time, Hourly, SeasonalLocation: On-siteSupervised by: House Director & Head ChefSupervises: Assistant Cook and Kitchen AssistantsWhy work for Tri Delta?Excellent work environment and mission driven cultureDaytime working hoursFive 8 hour shifts per weekPaid Vacation & Holidays - 40 hours per semesterBenefits including Health insurance, Retirement, & Life insuranceResponsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:Kitchen ManagementProvide safety, security, and emergency support for the kitchen environment and its employeesCommunicate, promote and oversee compliance with all local, state and federal large kitchen and food safety laws and procedures.Promptly notify the house director of any maintenance problems or unsafe conditions in or around the kitchenOversee the stock of food and kitchen suppliesEnsure that planned meals are nutritiously balanced and healthy, and accommodate residents or meal plan participants with food allergies or specific dietary requirementsThoroughly check and store food and supplies that are delivered to the facility and promptly remit any purchase orders or purchase receipts from the food vendor to the house directorSupervise all kitchen staff in the joint preparation of mealsAdministrative/General ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the house director to facilitate the planning and management of the operations budget for the kitchenObserve kitchen and chapter rules, as determined by the chapter and house directorRefrain from the use of alcohol or drugs in and around the chapter territoryMaintain a professional relationship with all chapter members and residents, employees, and volunteers5 + years of related experiencePossesses a specialty or advanced certification in culinary arts or equivalent experiencePossesses experience in large scale meal planning and kitchen management.Possesses staff relations, customer service, and safety standards skills.Preferred ServSafe CertifiedPossesses skills to operate a computer including web browsing, email, and Office products.Ability to speak and read EnglishMeet specified physical requirements of lifting no more than 40 lbs, standing on the tile floor for long periods of time, and use of hands to handle and control tools.Ability to model, teach, and promote Tri Delta’s employee valuesAbility to use proper discretion and independent judgment in carrying out the primary roles and responsibilities of the position.Important ConsiderationsWe do require successful completion of a background check and drug test.
