Senior Accounting Officer (Specialist)

Job Description and Duties

This position is eligible to telework up to one (1) day a week, in accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. This is subject to change based on operational need and/or future return to office orders. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Under general direction of an Accounting Administrator II, the Senior Accounting Officer (Specialist) independently performs the more complex analytical, technical and functional accounting duties which requires an understanding of the entire DGS accounting process using the FI$CAL statewide accounting system. Provides financial services to both internal and external customers including the proper recording, reconciliation and reporting of financial data while maintaining proper internal controls. This position is in the FI$Cal Support Unit.

• Strong experience in problem solving and critical thinking
• Good organizational skills with the ability to independently prioritize tasks.
• Knowledge of the Financial Information System for California (FI$Cal)

• Willingness to learn new assignments and tasks.
