Supervisor, Echo

Job Summary Your job is more than a job. To provide patient care in the course of diagnostic ultrasound, under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director of Cardiology and the Director of Cardiology. Responsible for day-to-day department operations, including oversight of staffing, patient care assignments, patient/physician satisfaction, quality review, and process improvement. Perform ultrasound studies according to facility protocol and supervise duties of other Ultrasound Technologists. Responsibilities General duties: Demonstrates proficiency and quality in performing the technical aspects of Diagnostic Ultrasound with and according to policy and procedure. Perform echocardiograms and vascular studies within the scope of training and experience, selecting appropriate transducers and settings. Expand scope of examination when abnormalities are identified. Assist physicians with transesophageal echocardiogram and stress echocardiograms. Maintain records of all procedures performed and archive patient examinations using departmental forms, logbooks, and computer system. Supervision of departmental employees: Plan and execute daily assignments and schedule staff for efficient workflow and optimal patient throughput. Provide new employee orientation, competency assessment, performance evaluation, and handle delegated personnel matters. Conduct performance evaluations and competency assessments in a timely manner. Reconcile timecards and approve employees' time records accurately. Demonstrate leadership skills, set clear expectations, provide specific direction to ancillary staff. Statistical and financial management: Maintain daily logs for patient billing purposes. Collect and provide statistical data for productivity and utilization reports. Track and maintain equipment, service calls, parts. Implement strategic plans, reengineer and design business processes and systems, monitor and control utilization of budgeted FTEs. Customer service: Maintain good working relationships with internal and external customers. Act as liaison and communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients and families. Collaborate with other department leaders to resolve interdepartmental issues and meet organizational mission and goals. Experience and Qualifications Minimum 3 years of experience in Diagnostic Echocardiography and Vascular Ultrasound. Licenses and Certifications Basic Life Support Health Care Provider – American Heart Association. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer – ARDMS. Vascular Sonography Certification – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Registered Cardiac Sonographer – Cardiovascular Credentialing Institute.
