Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Experience in a school setting as a paraprofessional or similar role
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required
• Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional training or certifications in ASL or special education are a plus

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct assistance to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, using ASL to facilitate communication and understanding
• Support teachers with classroom activities and help implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Foster a positive, supportive, and respectful atmosphere conducive to learning
• Maintain documentation related to student progress and daily activities
• Assist in small group or one-on-one instruction, adapting materials and methods as needed
• Participate in team meetings and ongoing training to stay current with best practices
