Defense Litigation Attorney (Remote - California) Duration: Permanent Location: Remote (Candidates must reside in California) Employment Type: Full-Time Salary Range - $125,000 to $140,000 Overview We are seeking a California-licensed Defense Litigation Attorney to support a variety of civil and commercial litigation matters. This role offers the opportunity to independently manage litigation matters, collaborate with experienced legal professionals, and work in a flexible remote environment while handling sophisticated defense litigation cases. Key Responsibilities Manage litigation matters from inception through resolution. Handle defense litigation matters including personal injury, property damage, negligence, subrogation, and other civil disputes. Investigate claims and analyze legal and factual issues. Develop case strategies and evaluate litigation risks and exposure. Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, legal memoranda, and settlement agreements. Take and defend depositions and prepare witnesses for testimony. Participate in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials. Manage discovery processes, document review activities, expert coordination, and litigation hold compliance. Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, experts, vendors, and internal stakeholders. Maintain litigation calendars, budgets, case plans, deadlines, and status reports. Support additional commercial and civil litigation matters as needed. Must-Have Requirements Active California Bar license in good standing. Strong experience drafting motions, pleadings, and discovery documents. Experience taking and defending depositions. Knowledge of California civil procedure and court rules. Ability to independently manage multiple litigation matters and deadlines. Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills. Nice-to-Have Qualifications Utility industry litigation experience. Personal injury and property damage defense experience. Subrogation and recovery action experience.
