We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join an organization. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who enjoys working across core accounting functions, including billing, payables, cash application, and reconciliations, while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities:

• Generate and issue a steady volume of customer invoices related to insurance premium billing with a high degree of accuracy.

• Record incoming payments, post cash receipts, and prepare deposits to keep account activity current and well documented.

• Review customer balances, follow up on outstanding items, and respond professionally to billing or payment-related questions.

• Administer vendor disbursements on schedule and maintain organized accounts payable documentation.

• Compare vendor statements to internal records, resolve discrepancies, and help keep payables data accurate.

• Reconcile bank activity and company credit card transactions to support dependable financial reporting.

• Assist with account analysis, investigate transaction variances, and support routine month-to-month accounting needs.

• Import, review, and validate financial data in Excel to ensure completeness and accuracy across accounting records.

• At least 1 year of accounting experience is required

• Practical exposure to invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash posting, or account reconciliation activities.

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including working with data imports, PivotTables, and lookup functions.

• Experience with QuickBooks Desktop is strongly preferred.

• High attention to detail with the ability to stay organized while managing multiple tasks.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with a detail-oriented customer service approach.

• Ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a small accounting team environment.
