Parasitology Technician (Overnight Shift - TEMP)

Opportunity to work at Antech Diagnostics as a Parasitology Laboratory Technician. This role focuses on performing laboratory analyses and tests, preparing samples, setting up instruments, running tests, and interpreting results. Position Details Work Shift: 12:00am – 8:30am, Monday – Friday with alternating Saturday. Target Pay: $20.67 per hour. Purpose of the Job The Parasitology Laboratory Technician performs laboratory analyses and tests. In addition, they prepare samples, set up instruments, run tests and read, interpret, and release results. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Set up, run, read, and release lab tests. Meet minimum department requirements for parasite and Giardia reading/releasing rates. Exercise judgment in evaluating and reporting results. Perform equipment maintenance activities and maintain quality control and calibration awareness. Assist lead or supervisor with rechecks as directed. Follow applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including safety and quality procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area; restock supplies as needed. May be cross‑trained to perform other duties, including less complex tests performed by a Para Aide. Participate in improving lab efficiency, quality, and cooperation. Consult with senior peers on non‑complex parasitology tasks to learn through experience. Education / Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Science degree or veterinary technician experience preferred. Prior laboratory experience preferred. Required Skills and Abilities Laboratory skills: experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests and operating lab instruments. Knowledge of medical and laboratory terminology, parasitology procedures, equipment, and familiarity with a microscope. General science background. Attention to detail and organizational skills with ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Effective communication skills; able to exchange accurate information. Positive, can‑do attitude. General computer skills. Work Environment Stationary position required for up to 2hours; occasional bending, kneeling, stooping, or crouching. May be required to lift, move, and carry up to 50lbs. Heavy microscopic work requiring observation of details at close range. Proficiency in English required to participate in team meetings, enter data accurately, and understand written directions. Extended hours may be needed. Lab environments with potential biohazards; use of personal protective equipment mandatory. Work under close to moderate supervision.
