CNC Mill Machinist – Mastercam ProgrammerThis role focuses on setting up, operating, and programming CNC Haas mills to produce small aluminum parts in a high-quality, production-focused environment. You will handle frequent short-run batches, perform efficient setups, and program new parts from scratch in Mastercam on a regular basis. The position is ideal for a machinist who is confident in both hands-on mill setup and Mastercam programming and enjoys working in a clean, small-shop setting with strong benefits and a supportive culture.ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate a CNC Haas mill to produce parts that are typically smaller than 2 inches, with approximately 95% of work involving aluminum components.Perform 1–3 setups per day, with the typical trend being one setup per day, ensuring accurate and efficient changeovers between jobs.Run production parts with cycle times of approximately 3–10 minutes per part for the majority of operations.Manage batch sizes typically ranging from 5 to 20 parts, maintaining consistency and quality across all pieces.Program a brand-new part from scratch in Mastercam approximately once per week, handling parts of mid-level complexity.Focus exclusively on production machining, ensuring repeatable, reliable output rather than prototype work.Read and interpret blueprints to understand part geometry, features, tolerances, and required operations.Use precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to inspect parts and verify dimensions against specifications.Adjust tools, offsets, and machining parameters as needed to maintain part quality and machine performance.Follow shop procedures and best practices to maintain a safe, efficient, and organized work area.Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues, improve setups, and optimize cycle times where possible.Document setups and programs as needed to support repeat jobs and consistent production results.Essential SkillsProven ability to set up and operate a CNC mill in a production environment.Hands-on experience operating CNC mills, with familiarity with Haas mills preferred but not strictly required.Strong proficiency in programming parts from scratch in Mastercam; this is a critical, non-negotiable requirement.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.Proficiency in using precision measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to inspect and verify parts.Experience working with milling operations and machining processes for metal components.Confidence working independently on mill setup and Mastercam programming without extensive supervision.Comfort working with small parts and short-run production batches, even if prior experience is with different part sizes.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience specifically with Haas CNC mills is beneficial and will help shorten the learning curve.Background in production machining environments where repeatability and efficiency are key.Familiarity with aluminum machining, including feeds, speeds, and tooling considerations.Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset when inspecting and adjusting parts.Ability to manage multiple jobs and setups in a day while maintaining accuracy and consistency.Willingness to take on overtime when available to support production demands.Why Work Here?You will join a small shop that offers the stability and benefits often associated with larger organizations, while preserving a close-knit, family-oriented atmosphere.
