Program Overview The Stanford Medicine Children’s Health Administrative Fellowship is a healthcare management development program that offers recent MHA, MPH, or MBA graduates learning opportunities in a pediatric academic medical center environment. Learning Opportunities Hospital & Outpatient Clinic Operations Hospital Expansion & Activation Planning Financial & Analytical Performance Analysis Business Development & Planning Strategic Planning & Marketing Job Summary The Administrative Fellow Program (AFP) is a paid, one-year post-graduate experience designed to give an individual exposure to children's healthcare leadership as well as provide an opportunity to apply skills and knowledge gained from graduate studies to practical experiences within the hospital. The AFP contributes to the growth and development of future healthcare administrators. Essential Functions Employees must abide by all Joint Commission Requirements including but not limited to sensitivity to cultural diversity, patient care, patient rights and ethical treatment, safety and security of physical environments, emergency management, teamwork, respect for others, participation in ongoing education and training, communication and adherence to safety and quality programs, sustaining compliance with National Patient Safety Goals, and licensure and health screenings. Achieves desired outcomes of Senior Management. Participates as a participant-observer at LPCHS Board of Directors and Senior Executives Cabinet, Management Forum, and selected departmental meetings. Engages in professional development through LPCHS and association opportunities, soliciting feedback from supervisors, stakeholders, and colleagues. Supports preparation for accreditation and survey processes, providing relevant data and responses. Performs senior management and community relations functions with professionalism and empathy. Researches, designs, and completes projects involving senior management, physician leaders, and the entire organization, meeting deadlines, and using resources efficiently. Participates in rotational assignments across core areas such as Finance, Strategic Planning, Business Development, Operations, IT, Ambulatory Care Services, Licensure/Accreditation, Compliance & Privacy, Government Relations and Leadership Development & Education to assess operations and support improvements. Supports the Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Priorities and Annual Goals of LPCHS. Minimum Qualifications Education: Bachelor's degree in a related discipline from an accredited college or university; or pending/recent graduate of an accredited graduate program in Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, or related field. Licensure/Certification: None required. Knowledge Ability to communicate a positive image of LPCHS, its management and physicians, and Stanford University. Ability to communicate respectfully and clearly with individuals and groups. Demonstrates initiative, professionalism, and teamwork. Demonstrates positive caring behavior and quality client service. Fosters positive relations within the LPCHS community. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information. Uses mentor, peer, and client feedback for professional development. Manages time, stress, and conflict effectively in a work setting. Physical Requirements Physical requirements and working conditions available from Occupational Health Department.
