Sr Lead Infrastructure Engineer - Hyper-V

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal infrastructure training or certification, plus at least 5 years of relevant hands-on experience in enterprise or large-scale environments.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft Hyper-V at scale, including WSFC, live migration, S2D, and virtual networking with vSwitch/SET.
• Strong PowerShell skills for automation, operational tooling, and configuration management.
• Experience auditing performance across compute, storage, networking, and hypervisor layers, and optimizing virtualized storage for throughput, latency, IOPS, and queueing.
• Experience with data-center-scale automation and configuration tools such as DSC, SCCM, Ansible, or equivalent.
• Ability to plan and deliver production changes with disciplined risk management, including zero-downtime upgrade strategies.
• Working proficiency in C#/.NET or an equivalent language to maintain and extend automation and orchestration services.
• Experience building or operating CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for infrastructure automation artifacts.
• Experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for infrastructure engineering workflows, validating recommendations, accounting for data sensitivity, and ensuring outcomes meet resiliency, security, and auditability expectations.
• Preferred: Experience operating multiple hypervisors, such as VMware ESXi or KVM alongside Hyper-V.
• Preferred: Server hardware knowledge, including Intel Xeon, AMD EPYC, NVMe, and GPU, and the ability to translate workload needs into platform requirements.
• Preferred: Hands-on knowledge of advanced virtual networking, including VLANs, SDN, teaming/SET, and load-balancing patterns.
• Preferred: Experience with Microsoft System Center tools such as VMM, SCOM, or SCCM in large environments.
• Preferred: Familiarity with vulnerability remediation workflows, such as Qualys, and large-scale baseline enforcement.
• Preferred: Experience with performance tools such as elbencho, VMFleet, diskspd, or fio for repeatable benchmarking.

• Architect Hyper-V cluster designs across global pools, including WSFC, live migration, S2D, and vSwitch/SET topologies.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, patching, compliance enforcement, and decommissioning using PowerShell, DSC, and platform APIs.
• Develop and enhance our custom C#/.NET 8 workload management platform to scale operational workflows and orchestration.
• Benchmark compute and storage performance with industry-standard tools to validate changes and inform capacity decisions.
• Diagnose full-stack issues across compute, storage, networking, clustering, and hypervisor layers using structured troubleshooting methods.
• Assess proposed server bills of materials for Hyper-V suitability and provide performance-focused feedback on CPU, memory, storage, and networking.
• Partner with security teams to remediate vulnerabilities and enforce platform baselines at scale.
• Document reference architectures, decision records, and operational runbooks to improve repeatability and auditability.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance that strengthens platform quality.
• Use enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to analyze complex infrastructure signals and document mitigation options, validating outputs and handling operational data according to its sensitivity and security requirements.
• Lead reuse-first adoption of AI-assisted practices across delivery and automation routines to reduce recurring issues, ensuring changes are validated, traceable, auditable, and aligned with resiliency and security expectations.
