Nutrition Therapist - Outpatient

Join Our Team as an Outpatient Nutrition Therapist! Are you passionate about helping patients improve their health through personalized nutrition care? We’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate Nutrition Therapist to join our team! In this role, you’ll collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop individualized nutrition care plans, provide education and counseling to patients and families, and help individuals manage complex health conditions. You’ll also have opportunities to mentor future healthcare professionals and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. Duties: Nutrition Therapist - Outpatient

Manage medical nutrition care for patients who are nutritionally complex. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to integrate nutrition care with the patient's overall plan of care throughout the continuum. Use the Nutrition Care Process and Terminology (NCPT) to assess nutrition status, identify nutrition diagnoses, and develop, implement and evaluate outcomes of nutrition care plans for patients at nutrition risk. Use skills, knowledge, evidence-based practice, and clinical judgment to address prevention, delay, or management of acute or chronic diseases and conditions for individuals and groups. Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients, families and the community. Train nutrition and other health care profession students in the clinical and classroom setting. Conduct process improvement, outcomes measurement and nutrition focused clinical research and participate in interprofessional process improvement initiatives for specified patient populations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree granted by a US regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent required.
• Completion of an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics required.
• Completion of required nutrition and dietetics coursework and supervised practice through a Didactic Program in Dietetics and Dietetic Internship, Coordinated Program in Dietetics, or Future Graduate Program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required.
• Knowledge and application of Nutrition Care Process and Terminology (NCPT); knowledge and application of Nutrition Focused Physical Exam (NFPE) required. • Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.
• Licensed Medical Nutrition Therapist (LMNT) by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nutrition and dietetics or related area granted by a US regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association certification preferred.
• Clear and consistent written and verbal communication skills preferred.
• Proficient in use of technology and applications, including word processing, excel, nutrient analysis, etc. preferred.
• Critical thinking skills to integrate facts, informed opinions, active listening, and observation preferred.
• Analysis of information to identify implications, develop solutions and conclusions and evaluate each alternative to make sound decisions based on appropriate data preferred.
• Service excellence and patient-centered care preferred.• Interpersonal skills and dedication to organization values preferred.
• Focus on customer satisfaction when working with patients, families, coworkers, other departments, physicians/providers, and the community preferred.
