Clinical Role
Join a large academic medical center in Hershey, Pennsylvania, providing CRNA anesthesia coverage across a diverse surgical and procedural environment. This locums opportunity offers exposure to a broad case mix, including trauma, neurosurgery, pediatrics, robotics, and complex surgical services, while working within a medically directed anesthesia care model alongside experienced anesthesiologists and anesthesia providers.

Available shifts include:

• 10-hour shifts:
  • 8:30 AM-7:00 PM
• 12-hour shifts:
  • 6:30 AM-7:00 PM
  • Thursday start time: 7:00 AM

Call Requirements:

• No call requirement

Coverage Model:

• Medical direction
• CRNA/anesthesiologist ratio:
  • 2:1 or 3:1

Clinical Details & Responsibilities
Practice Setting:

• Hospital
• Academic medical center

Patient Population:

• Adult and pediatric patients
• Pediatrics ages 5 and older

Case Mix Includes:

• General surgery
• Orthopedics
• Trauma
• Plastics
• Neurosurgery
• Pediatrics (ages 5 and up)
• Endoscopy
• NORA
• Robotic surgery
• Gynecology
• ENT

Cases Not Included:

• Cardiac cases
• Obstetrics
• Regional blocks

Clinical Responsibilities:

• Assess, prepare, and manage patients throughout the perioperative period
• Develop and implement anesthetic plans
• Perform pre-anesthetic evaluations
• Obtain informed consent
• Perform post-operative assessments
• Provide:
  • General anesthesia
  • Regional anesthesia
  • Epidural anesthesia
  • Spinal anesthesia
  • IV regional anesthesia
  • Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC)
• Perform invasive monitoring when required:
  • Central venous access
  • Pulmonary artery catheterization
  • Arterial line placement
• Provide airway management

Support & Technology
Care Team Model:

• Medically directed anesthesia practice
• CRNA/anesthesiologist ratio:
  • 2:1 or 3:1

Team Environment:

• Large academic anesthesia department
• Other anesthesia providers present during coverage
• Patient handoffs completed according to care setting and clinical needs

Requirements

• NBCRNA Certification required
• Minimum one year of CRNA experience required
• Must have at least one year of experience by the time credentialing is completed
• Must be able to independently begin practice upon start
• References required at time of submission
• Pennsylvania CRNAs do not require DEA licenses
• ACLS, BLS Required
• EMR: Cerner

Credentialing

• No temporary privileges available
• Please inquire for current credentialing timeline
• All overtime must be approved by department administration

Additional Details

• No guaranteed hours
• Callback is considered patient-facing hours
• Lunch is not included
• Providers must clock in and out for lunch breaks:
  • Example: 7:00 AM-12:00 PM; 1:00 PM-5:00 PM
