Location: Elk Grove Village, IL

Work Arrangement: Hybrid — 3 days onsite per week

Compensation: Up to $105,000 annually; no bonus

Position Overview

An established, financially stable organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Accounting team. Reporting to the Controller, this role will support general ledger accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, inventory accounting, and accounts payable and receivable activities.

Key Responsibilities

• General Ledger: Prepare month-end journal entries, maintain accurate accounting records, and perform general ledger reconciliations.
• Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for parent company reporting requirements.
• Month-End Close: Support monthly and year-end close activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial results.
• Inventory Accounting: Manage inventory balances, related reserves, inventory reconciliations, and roll-forward schedules.
• Fixed Assets: Maintain the fixed asset subledger, capitalize assets, record depreciation, and prepare supporting schedules.
• Accounts Payable: Reconcile accounts payable, initiate wire transfers, verify banking information for new payment setups, and manage intercompany payments.
• Accounts Receivable: Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts receivable transactions.
• Intercompany Accounting: Prepare and reconcile intercompany billings and coordinate payment and confirmation processes.
• Sales Commissions: Assist with sales-related commission plans and calculations.
• Cash Forecasting: Manage cash forecasting activities and prepare related management reports.
• Accruals and Compliance: Prepare month-end expense accruals, oversee 1099 reporting, and assist with tax audits and supporting documentation.
• Internal Controls: Document accounting procedures, recommend process improvements, and maintain compliance with GAAP.
• Audit Support: Coordinate with internal and external auditors to support accounting compliance and reporting requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3+ years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, databases, and advanced functions.
• Experience with NetSuite or a similar ERP system.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of responsibilities, and proactively resolve issues.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working for a Japanese-owned or Japanese-affiliated company.
• Experience with inventory accounting, inventory reconciliations, and related financial reporting.
• CPA certification or equivalent professional qualification.
• Experience with intercompany accounting, cash forecasting, and fixed assets.
