Moore & Van Allen PLLC, a dynamic and fast-growing full-service law firm of more than 400 attorneys and professionals, is seeking an experienced Paralegal to join its Charleston, SC office. The paralegal will perform a variety of duties and legal tasks to provide clients with the most time-efficient and cost-effective service. Provides research and drafting assistance, document organization, and maintains positive client contact and confidentiality of client matters. What You’ll Do: Conducts research and locates cases, depositions, opinions, reports, or other information related to the matter. Drafts and/or prepares documents related to specialty areas (e.g., tax returns, estate accountings, petitions, affidavits, probate documents, retirement plans, deposition digests, motions, pleadings, incorporation documents, audit letters, memorandums, newsletter articles, etc.). Reviews, proofs, revises, and organizes documents in preparation for trials, closings, transfers of assets and distributions, or other matters. Schedules and participates in meetings or conferences related to specialty area (e.g., court appearances, depositions, client conferences, closings, etc.). Provides analysis and input regarding the development of strategies. Prepares filings for specialty areas (e.g., UCCs, estate filings, court documents, etc.). Maintains expertise in the assigned specialty area. Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned. Regular and in-person attendance is required to perform the essential functions of this interactive position. What We’re Looking For: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of experience and education required. At least one year of experience in a paralegal role, experience in Commercial Real Estate a plus; Paralegal certification preferred. Must have strong communication and problem-solving skills. Must have intermediate to advanced experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word and Excel). Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing. The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. The work at times requires bending, squatting, and reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull light weights. Retrieve and replace objects from shelves up to 8 feet high.
