We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner, Non-Institutional is motivated to help individuals and families navigate life's challenges and achieve long-term wellness. This position is located at the BHDD - Office of Mental Health, Anderson Mental Health Clinic, 1 Linwa Boulevard, Anderson, SC 29621. As a Nurse Practitioner, Non-Institutional, under general supervision, you will provide psychiatric services to patients of the Anderson-Oconee-Pickens Mental Health Center providing subsequent Psychiatric Medical Assessment (PMA) services on a routine or emergency basis to include psychiatric assessment/evaluation, medication management, medication administration and treatment planning. Services will be provided in a culturally sensitive manner. Four (4) days per week in the Child & Adolescent Program and Clinic and one (1) day per week in the Adult Program. Responsibilities for the Nurse Practitioner, Non-Institutional: Provide subsequent psychiatric/medical services (PMA-APRN) to children and adolescents including psychiatric assessment and prescription of medication within the AOPMHC locations where indicated but primarily at the Child and Adolescent Clinic and the Anderson County Adult Clinic. Provide services both on a scheduled and emergency basis. Act as resource consultant to all professional staff for specific patient problems, unusual and difficult cases, including Medication Administration and services to Medication Management only (MMO) patients. Document services to Quality Assurance Standards. Maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local Compliance Laws. Qualifications and Experience A master’s degree in nursing, licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse from the South Carolina Board of Nursing and five (5) years of work experience with mental health population. Applicants must provide evidence of this required experience with the mental health population on your application and resume. Must have Prescriptive Authority. Additional Requirements Must qualify for credentialing and privileging as a Nurse Practitioner, Non-Institutional and in accordance with quality assurance standards in accordance with quality assurance standards and with concurrence by BHDD - Office of Mental Health Quality Management. This position requires the ability to bend, stoop, climb, drive from location to location, lift and file. This position could be considered essential. Therefore, the employee in this position may be asked to report to work even if the Center is closed in the event of an emergency. Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. Post hire, employees must have: Knowledge and skill in assessment and management of health of persons, families and groups. Knowledge of physical and psychosocial assessment skills. Knowledge of risk screening and developmental assessment tools. Knowledge of equipment for the care of clients in specialty area(s). Knowledge of community resources to assist in planning and referral for chronic or specialized care. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and human pathologic processes in order to formulate differential diagnoses and develop accurate assessments and plans. Knowledge of pharmacology necessary for prescribing and monitoring of medications. Ability to interpret laboratory findings, reports of radiological studies, and results of other common diagnostic tests. Ability to incorporate appropriate explanations and health education into the care of assigned clients and their families. Ability to function as a role model for both nursing staff and student nurse practitioners. Ability to perform minor procedures per written protocols. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to monitor and evaluate quality of clinical practice and implement changes as needed. Ability to function as an effective team member. Routine supervision provided by supervisor, psychiatrist and monthly consultation groups. Employee's activities are governed by AOPMHC and BHDD policy and procedure. Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
