The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, Department of Medicine, at the University of Washington invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Clinical Practice, with an anticipated start date of March 2027. Specific rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications as generally described in UW's Faculty Code Section 24-34. The successful candidate will provide care in both inpatient and outpatient settings and will focus on outpatient care in the Harborview Medicine Sleep Clinic, as well as inpatient service based on division and section needs at the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC) and Harborview Medical Center (HMC). Teaching responsibilities will include clinical bedside teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows. University of Washington faculty are expected to engage in teaching, research, and service.

The initial appointment period will be three years, at a minimum, with eligibility for renewal thereafter. Faculty on the Clinical Practice track hold multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. Clinical Practice track appointments are not eligible for tenure.

The base salary range for this position will be: Assistant Professor rank: $22,000$23,750 per month ($264,000$285,000 per year), Associate Professor rank: $25,000$28,000 per month ($300,000$336,000 per year), Professor rank: $29,000$30,500 per month ($348,000$366,000 per year), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

This position is incentive-eligible through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan.

Additional administrative responsibilities may be offered to a specific candidate with appropriate experience and qualifications which may result in an administrative supplement (ADS).

Other compensation associated with this position may include Semi-Annual Additional Compensation (SAAC).

Our Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine is a collaborative and multidisciplinary community of over 200 faculty, fellows, researchers, advanced practice providers, and staff across five major clinical sites in Seattle, including UW Medical CenterMontlake, Harborview Medical Center, UW Medical CenterNorthwest, the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center. We are home to several highly active centers, including the Center for Lung Biology, the Cambia Palliative Care Center of Excellence, the Center for Interstitial Lung Disease, and the Sepsis Center for Research Excellence (SCORE-UW). Our mission integrates excellence in clinical care, research, and education, spanning foundational science through translational, clinical, and population health research, with a strong emphasis on mentorship and the development of physician-scientists through our long-standing NIH T32 training program. Our Division faculty excels in research productivity and impact spanning high-impact journals across the fields of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. In 2024 alone, our T32 mentors secured approximately $46 million in research funding and contributed to over 300 publications.

Qualifications

Applicants for this position must meet the following minimum qualifications:

1. MD/DO degree or foreign equivalent
2. Board certification or eligibility (or foreign equivalent) in Sleep Medicine
3. Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of Washington
4. To be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S,) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
