Position Summary: The Junior Accountant serves as an integral part of the (MALIN+GOETZ) finance team, responsible for Accounts Payable and Receivable, as well as assisting in the month end close and associated reporting. The role requires a dynamic, results-driven individual with exemplary attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and a professional communications style. Manage Accounts Payable process: audit, match, code, invoice/expense entry, as well as performing weekly payment run. Manage Accounts Receivable process: invoicing customers, applying payments, sending statements and creating credit memos. Partner with Sales and Operations teams to identify, research, and resolve invoice/payment discrepancies. Provide assistance to vendors, customers, and internal staff. Assist in month end close activities including bank reconciliation entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and cash reporting. Support other finance and accounting activities as needed. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting, or 1-2 years of experience in Accounting. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting (through prior roles, internships, or coursework). Excellent entry level role for recent finance graduates with the right profile. Language Ability: Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees. Mathematical Ability: Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Computer Skills: Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot table, and VLOOKUPS. Google Suite Benefits: The estimated hourly rate for this position is $30-$31. The New York corporate office is hybrid (3 days in-office, 2 days work from home). Dog-friendly office environment.
