CT Technologist

Job Summary:

The Level 2 CT Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic CT scans with a focus on patient safety and comfort. This role involves verifying patient identity, coordinating with physicians, preparing and positioning patients, inserting IVs when needed, and accurately documenting procedures in the electronic medical record system. The technologist maintains a clean and safe scanning environment and ensures proper image management in the PACS system. The position requires at least two years of experience, including trauma center exposure, and adherence to licensure and certification requirements. Responsibilities:

• Confirm patient identity and exam verification prior to initiating scans, following department policies for patient safety.
• Coordinate with physicians to provide diagnostic imaging services.
• Prepare patients for CT scans and explain procedures to ensure comfort and cooperation.
• Insert IVs when necessary for imaging procedures.
• Position patients safely, including lifting or moving patients with limited mobility using safe patient handling techniques.
• Maintain accurate patient records by documenting all exam components in EPIC and ensuring images are correctly sent to the PACS system.
• Maintain a clean and safe scanning facility environment.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Completion of formal Radiologic Technology training from an approved school.
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Current New York State CT Technologist licensure (must be obtained prior to starting).
• At least two years of CT technologist experience, including Level 1 Trauma Center experience.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Injection therapy certification on NYS license or willingness to complete during orientation.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with Philips and Siemens CT equipment.
• Telemetry monitoring experience.
• Experience using EPIC electronic medical record system.
• Patient-centered and compassionate disposition.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Special Considerations:

• On-call requirement of 2-3 call shifts per month, including holidays and callbacks as needed by the unit.
• Must be able to safely handle and position patients with limited mobility.
• Compliance with all hospital and departmental safety and infection control policies.

Scheduling:

• Weekend day shifts: Friday through Sunday, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM.
• Shift assignments include on-call responsibilities and holiday coverage as required.
