Senior Scientist, AI Lead

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Senior Scientist, AI Lead for the Cell and Gene Therapy team in Pennsylvania. This applied AI generalist will translate scientific challenges into AI solutions, lead cross-functional projects, and drive adoption of machine learning and generative AI across R&D operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional AI projects supporting Cell and Gene Therapy development priorities
- Design, prototype, test, and iterate AI solutions across machine learning, generative AI, and computer vision
- Partner with process development and manufacturing teams to identify challenges suitable for AI intervention
- Evaluate AI solutions for model performance, scientific validity, and business value before integration
- Track adoption metrics, share outcomes, and promote organizational culture of AI-augmented scientific expertise
Requirements
- BS in biology, chemistry, chemical/biochemical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related field with 4+ years experience
- MS degree with 2+ years relevant experience, or PhD with 0-1 years experience
- 2+ years academic or industry experience delivering applied AI solutions
- Strong scientific background linking domain challenges to AI technologies
- Broad understanding of machine learning, deep learning, NLP, computer vision, and generative models
- Knowledge of responsible AI practices including validation, transparency, privacy, and governance
