Job Title: Subject Leader of Technology Location: York Contract Type: Full‑Time, Permanent Start Date: September 2026 Salary: MPS/UPS (32,916 - 51,048) + TLR2a (3,527) Overview We are seeking an inspirational and experienced Subject Leader of Technology to work in a secondary school located in York. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional with a proven track record of delivering outstanding outcomes for young people. The successful candidate will join a well‑established Technology faculty and lead Design Technology and Food Technology, with a specialism in Design Technology. Responsibilities Lead and manage Design Technology and Food Technology within the department. Plan and deliver high‑quality lessons across a range of Technology subjects. Inspire, motivate, and challenge students across KS3 and KS4. Monitor, assess, and report on student progress to ensure high standards of achievement. Contribute to the development of the wider Technology curriculum. Support and develop colleagues within the department. Maintain a safe, organised, and engaging learning environment. Participate in departmental meetings, whole‑school initiatives, and CPD opportunities. Requirements Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent. Experience teaching Design Technology across KS3 and KS4. Strong subject knowledge, with the ability to teach across multiple Technology disciplines. Previous leadership experience or readiness to take on a leadership role. Excellent classroom management and communication skills. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
