- A four-year High School diploma or its educational equivalent, including or supplemented by a course of study consisting of at least 600 instructional hours at an approved school for Dental Assistants. OR
- A four-year High School diploma or its educational equivalent, including or supplemented by a course of study consisting of at least 300 instructional hours at an approved school for Dental Assistants plus six (6) months of full-time satisfactory experience as a Dental Assistant performing all of the following duties:
- Taking, developing, and mounting dental radiographs.
- Assisting the dentist at chairside.
- Sterilizing dental instruments using an autoclave. OR
- A four-year High School diploma or its educational equivalent plus one (1) year of full-time satisfactory experience as a Dental Assistant performing the duties listed above. OR
- A satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to the above requirements. However, all candidates must have at least a four-year High School diploma or GED.
- Experience as a receptionist or clerk in a dentist's office is not acceptable toward meeting the qualification requirements.
