Job Description
Medical Surgical Float Registered Nurse (RN) Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and flexible Medical Surgical Float Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care across various units within the healthcare facility. This position requires the ability to adapt to different patient populations and clinical environments while maintaining a focus on patient safety and comfort. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care to adults and geriatric patients, ensuring adherence to best practices and protocols.
- Float to multiple Medical Surgical (MS) and MS/Telemetry units as needed.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
- Utilize Epic and SBAR communication methods to document and share patient information effectively.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, using Pyxis for medication management.
- Assist in the transition and discharge planning for patients, ensuring a smooth handoff and continuity of care.
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; first-time travelers are welcome to apply.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
- Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and willing to float to various units and locations as needed.
- Ability to manage patient ratios of 1:5-6 in a fast-paced environment.
- This role requires night shifts, working three 12-hour shifts per week.
- Mandatory rotation through weekends, averaging one weekend off every two weeks.
- If assigned, travelers are expected to work major holidays.
- Scrub color is navy blue.
- A maximum of 7 days of requested time off will be accommodated.
- Non-billable orientation hours are based on contract length.
