Work Environment

Key Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate physical therapy treatment aimed at preventing disability, alleviating pain, and restoring muscle function, ensuring treatment plans align with each patient's capabilities.
• Oversee and mentor Physical Therapy Assistants in the execution of designated therapy protocols, ensuring adherence to best practices and state laws.
• Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients' functional levels using diagnostic assessments to create personalized treatment plans.
• Assess and recommend modifications to patients' home environments to enhance their independence and rehabilitative progress.
• Provide physical therapy services as prescribed by physicians, including administering manual exercises, adjusting orthotic devices, and applying various therapeutic modalities.
• Document patient progress meticulously in clinical records, including evaluations, care plans, and discharge summaries, to track treatment efficacy and ensure continuity of care.
• Participate actively in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care strategies and collaborate on treatment modifications as necessary.
• Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers, providing education on treatment protocols and device utilization to support rehabilitation efforts.
• Complete necessary documentation and submit orders in a timely manner, adhering to agency policies.
• Conduct on-site functional assessments, evaluating the necessity for community resource utilization and adjusting care plans accordingly.

Patient Population / Client Focus

This role will primarily focus on patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, sports injuries, and other musculoskeletal conditions. You will engage with a diverse patient population, requiring a customized approach to each individual's rehabilitation strategy based on their specific needs, goals, and health statuses.

Qualifications

• Hold a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited program.
• Possess a valid state license to practice as a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and meet all requirements set forth by the Physical Therapy Examining Committee.
• Demonstrate a minimum of two years of experience in a clinical setting, particularly within orthopedic physical therapy.
• Maintain current CPR certification to ensure patient safety.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems and familiarity with specific orthopedic rehabilitation protocols will be advantageous. A background in community health initiatives or patient education will also enhance your effectiveness in this role.
