Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage, mentor estimators, training. Contributes to the personal growth of reports through pursuing continuing education courses and workshops and also by sharing past experiences/lessons learned.
\n
• Annual Reviews
\n
• Weekly one-on-ones with reports
\n
• Work with ops to gather pricing information on budgeted line items in an estimate. Assist in the process of gathering actual cost (with Ops & Subcontractors) vs. estimated cost, maintaining project cost history, and updating accubid templates and internal budgeting tools as necessary, when relevant information is provided.
\n
• Module hot-sheet pricing
\n
• Provide leadership and direction with regards to means and methods, schedule, and strategy.
\n
• Workload assignment & follow up.
\n
• Attend all bid-reviews
\n
• Assist with business development activities with other divisions inside of Baker.
\n
• Assumes job duties and responsibilities of the Estimator II.
\n
• Manage, oversee, and perform all take-off and quantity surveys per company standardized procedures.
\n
• Leads Estimating Team with timely roll-out and execution of the entire estimate deliverable process.
\n
• Conduct initial analysis of drawings and specifications to ensure required documentation is present and determine scope of work.
\n
• Responsible for the completion of all bid related documents.
\n
• Critically analyze bid documents and understand risk and opportunities and articulate those to management.
\n
• Organize the bid team, providing leadership and direction with regards to means and methods, schedule, and strategy.
\n
• Participate in technical proposals for Alternative Delivery projects as requested.
\n
• Effectively plug budgets for all disciplines, vendors, and subcontractors.
\n
• Create detailed crew and production cost estimates and review prices with estimating team.
\n
• Attends project site pre-bid meetings, site tours, and post-bid interviews as required.
\n
• Accurately assesses and plans takeoff workload.
\n
• Assist in the process of gathering actual cost vs. estimated cost, maintaining project cost history.
\n
• Manage and maintain subcontractor database and subcontractor prequalification.
\n
• Builds and maintains effective relationships with customers, design team, subcontractors, suppliers, vendors and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer’s expectations.
\n
• Assist with business developments activities.
\n
• Conduct special studies to develop and analyze new material and installation procedures and related cost data to determine the effect of possible cost reductions as directed by Chief Estimator.
\n
• Perform other special projects as needed

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION:

\n
• 5 – 10 years of experience as a Sr. Electrical Estimator
\n
• Proven ability to successfully complete various estimates and budgets simultaneously
\n
• Proven knowledge of electrical relevant to needs of the business group
\n
• Overall understanding of construction business (operations, procurement / buy outs, risk management, etc.)
\n
• Years of experience in role may vary by previous field experience in the electrical trade and/or Bachelor’s Degree in related field is a plus (Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, etc.)
\n
• CPE “Certified Professional Electrical Estimator” a plus
\n
• Proficiency in Bluebeam, Procore, MS Project, or other related Construction Management software
\n
• Proficiency in Accubid or other related Construction Estimating software
\n
• Exposure to mentoring or training new estimators
\n
