Job Title: ICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Day/Night Rotate Hours per Shift: 12 hours, variable shifts from 0700 to 1930 or 1900 to 0730. Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with high acuity patients Description: The unit is a 16-bed Intensive Care Unit, plus 2 additional procedural beds. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 and 1:1 for higher acuity patients. Common patient diagnoses include cardiovascular surgery, traumas, and various surgical procedures requiring ICU care. Experience with specific patient populations and high acuity is essential. Nurses provide care for post-operative heart patients, which involves specialized training. The role requires RNs to titrate various drips including epinephrine, norepinephrine, and others. A charge nurse is available on every shift but may take patients based on unit needs. An intensivist and respiratory therapist are present in the unit 24/7. RNs must monitor patient telemetry and document rhythm strips. Floating may be required to other units or roles if not needed in the ICU. The unit has flexible self-scheduling with weekend and holiday requirements of every other. Proper dress code is required, ensuring a clean and professional appearance. Unit-specific orientation will be provided including system onboarding completion and skills checklist.
