Maintenance Mechanic

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Building Trades, the Maintenance Mechanic performs a variety of skilled maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction duties in support of the California Highway Patrol Academy facilities and infrastructure. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing building systems and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general facility maintenance. Incumbents operate hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment; respond to maintenance work orders; and assist with facility improvement projects to ensure a safe, functional, and professional environment throughout the California Highway Patrol Academy.

Working Conditions


Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The employee will work both indoors and outdoors. While indoors, the temperature and humidity are reasonably controlled. However, while outdoors, the employee is exposed to climate conditions.
