About the Position

Job Title: Stepdown/MedSurg Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Stepdown/MedSurg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS Certification Description: Unit has a total of 32 beds, including stepdown and general floor beds. Ratios are 1:3 for stepdown and 1:4-6 for general floor. Common diagnoses include chest pain, COPD, altered mental status, pneumonia, urinary tract infection, and abdominal pain. Nurses may need to titrate drips on the stepdown unit. Charge nurse and house supervisor are available to assist. Registered nurses are expected to read telemetry strips alongside monitor technicians. Shifts are from 7 PM to 7:30 AM. Weekend and holiday staffing will be based on the permanent staff's schedule. Float requirements include the possibility of being assigned to any floor or stepdown unit. Dress code is royal blue scrubs. Experience with telemetry equipment is necessary. The charting system used is EPIC.
