About the Role
The Company is in search of an Associate General Counsel with a focus on regulatory, OSHA, and environmental matters. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing a wide range of health and safety and environmental issues. This includes providing legal counsel, handling regulatory enforcement matters and related litigation, and managing outside counsel for the defense of cases in various legal settings. The role also involves drafting and negotiating settlement agreements, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive H&S and environmental strategy. Applicants must have a minimum of six years' of experience in a law firm or in-house setting, with a strong background in managing H&S and environmental matters. The position requires a strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to effectively manage a large matter docket and outside counsel. The ideal candidate will have experience advising on workplace safety programs, operational risk mitigation strategies, and be familiar with hazardous materials transportation and compliance requirements. A proactive approach to risk management, the ability to work collaboratively, and a strong knowledge of H&S and environmental laws and regulations are essential. The role demands a professional who is a member of a state bar in good standing and is currently located in the geographic area of the position or willing to relocate.
