Purpose Of Position Under the general supervision of the Senior Executive Director of Human Resources, the HR Generalist provides broad-based support to the Human Resources department by providing assistance across multiple functional areas, including Staffing, Recruitment, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, Leaves, HRIS, and Employee Support. This position is designed to provide flexible, timely support, adjusting to shifting departmental needs and priorities. The HR Generalist plays an essential role in the delivery of high-quality, timely, and accurate HR services in support of MMSD’s staff, schools, communities, and scholars. This position requires a high degree of integrity and a commitment to sustaining a culture of continuous improvement while supporting an inclusive work environment and maintaining a growth mindset within a dynamic, multi-faceted operation. Supervisory Responsibilities None Essential Duties And Responsibilities Staffing, Recruitment, and Licensing Support - 20% Employee Support - 20% HRIS & Data Management - 20% Payroll, Compensation, Benefits, and Leaves - 20% Other Duties as Assigned - 20% Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Perform Essential Job Functions: Demonstrated ability to establish relationships at all levels of the organization Follow principles and practices that promote and advance anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion Knowledge of core HR principles and practices across multiple functional areas Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities Analytical and detail-oriented approach to reviewing data and documentation Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft professional correspondence Proficiency with Google Workplace and other common software applications; ability to learn new systems quickly Ability to maintain strict confidentiality Required Qualifications One to two (1-2) years of experience in human resources or a related administrative function in a professional environment Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree Bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to read, write, and speak fluently License Requirements None Physical Requirements Ability to work under generally safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors is minimal and poses little to no risk of injury. This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally and may involve walking, sitting, stooping or reaching. Manual dexterity is necessary for completing general tasks while operating office equipment. This position may require being stationary for extended periods of time. Ability to perform work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments throughout the year, including in inclement weather, spaces without air conditioning, and areas where temperatures may be uncomfortable or fluctuate rapidly. Working Conditions May require travel to different locations within the district and to off-site meetings May require occasional evenings and weekend work in support of District events Certain positions within the District may allow remote/work from home flexibility for a portion of their work schedule, depending on the needs of the position and the work unit.
