Job Description

Entry level opportunity for individuals looking to get into the power industry! This role involves preparing field notes, drawings, specifications, and design estimates. The position requires strong analytical skills to effectively interact with various individuals, including engineers. You will acquire a working knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), national engineering standards, utility construction standards, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Maintain production and quality of projects, including field data, photographs, engineering analysis, reports, and various departmental reports and databases.

• Prepare and modify electrical and roadway drawings, specifications, calculations, charts, graphs, and construction drawing packages.

• Perform various field technical services for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical distribution systems.

• Conduct system inventories and audits, joint use management, permitting, pad-mount inspections, ground-line pole inspections, metering and apparatus services, and lighting audits.

• Collect field data using laptop computers, tablet devices, GPS, and other electronic devices for input into database software.

• Develop a working knowledge of telephone, cable, and other communication facilities.

• Operate necessary equipment to take measurements on utility poles and mid-span facilities, perform pole inspections, and maintain pad-mount equipment.

• Present ideas effectively in both formal and informal situations.

• Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing with all levels in the organization and with outside clients and agencies.

Essential Skills

• Entry-level position requiring an Associate's degree or high school diploma.

• 1+ years of experience in Electric Utility or telecommunications field preferred.

• Familiarity with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) preferred.

• Knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office applications.

• Proficient use of engineering software, including AutoCAD or similar programs.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma; an Associate's Degree is preferred.

• Proficient in technical aptitude and the use of test equipment.

• Clear and valid driver's license required as travel to surrounding utility territories is expected.

• Comfortable working outdoors.

The work environment primarily involves outdoor fieldwork. The position requires working with various technologies and equipment, including laptops, tablets, GPS devices, and engineering software. The role necessitates travel to surrounding utility territories.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntersville, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $21.00/hr.
