The Lab Manager interacts with other hospital services to support the coordination of patient care activities as well as achieves performance improvement initiatives. As the Lab Manager, it is important to ensure policies and procedures are feasible by making compliance a key priority. Essential Functions: Works to improve Laboratory operations and establish objectives related to quality metrics; monitors quality indicators to identify opportunities for improvement and submits monthly reports of monitorsManages laboratory department including hiring, staffing, scheduling, and onboarding of new employees; schedules staff to meet laboratory service requirements, productivity goals, and staffing budgetEvaluates the performance of department staff and completes performance assessments with input from Lead Technologists or Supervisors Serves as a facilitator for regional laboratory committees and coordinates activities for completion of projects and implementation of new proceduresMonitors laboratory expenses to meet budgetary goals. Works with their leader and participates in forecasting, planning, and budgeting. Works with their leader and collaborates with other members of the management team to develop plans for capital replacement and acquisition.Other duties as assignedEducation:Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Biology, or Biochemistry (required) Certifications:Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) or ASCP Certification (required) Experience:5 years of experience in a laboratory tech setting (required) Previous experience in a leadership position in a laboratory tech environment (required) Skills & Abilities:Demonstrates leadership competencies and skills for the position, including excellent communication, customer service, continuous quality improvement, relationship development, and decision makingPossesses extensive knowledge of clinical practice or function and a thorough understanding of the organization and work environmentMercy Health is an equal opportunity employer.As a Mercy Health associate, you’re part of a Misson that matters.
