About the role The historical truth of clinical research is that roughly 5% of eligible patients ever take part — not because the other 95% said no, but because nobody ever asked them. 5to95™ is KARAMATA’s answer to that, and this role is its front line: the person who does the asking. Your day is spent on the phone with people who may belong in a study and don’t yet know it. You introduce the opportunity in plain language, walk each person through an initial eligibility conversation against the study's criteria, book qualified candidates into research visits, and stay with them — the reminder call, the reschedule, the answered question — so that interest becomes enrollment. Every conversation gets recorded in the file, accurately, because recruitment data the team can’t trust is recruitment that didn't happen. You don’t need a research background to do this well. People arrive at this work from service desks, sales floors, scheduling teams, healthcare outreach, and patient-facing roles of every kind — what transfers is the ability to hold a warm, unhurried conversation at volume, hour after hour. The clinical research industry is on the other side of that skill, and this seat is a working entry into it. Responsibilities Carry a full daily schedule of outbound phone conversations with prospective participants Explain each study’s purpose and commitments clearly enough that a stranger can decide Run first-pass eligibility conversations against the criteria the study defines Convert qualified interest into booked research appointments Keep prospective participants engaged between first contact and first visit Maintain a precise record of every contact and hand clean information to the research team Qualifications At ease spending the better part of a working day in outbound conversation A listener first: reads people quickly, adjusts, and keeps trust Steady under a target, and durable through the calls that go nowhere Organized enough to run several priorities without dropping one Background in customer service, scheduling, sales, recruiting, or healthcare outreach is useful; none is mandatory Curiosity about clinical research, medicine, psychology, or behavioral health counts in your favor Pay and benefits $25–$30 per hour.
