CNC Setup Machinist — Low-Volume/High-Mix Precision

Location: Fremont, OH

Compensation: $30–$35/hour, based on experience | Employment Type: Direct Hire

Step into a shop where no two days look the same. You clock in, review a short-run schedule that averages ~60 parts per job (with occasional runs up to 500), and decide whether today’s setup calls for a CNC mill or a CNC lathe. You load tooling, dial in offsets, tweak programs right at the control, then confirm critical features with micrometers and calipers. By midday, you’re collaborating with teammates, balancing quality checks with throughput, and—when it helps the flow—jumping over to a Bridgeport or manual lathe.

What You’ll Work On

• Full setups and operation on CNC mills or CNC lathes using Heidenhain and/or Siemens controls
• Reading and interpreting detailed blueprints, drawings, and specs
• Tooling selection, changes, and offset adjustments for optimal results
• Editing programs at the machine when needed
• Verifying dimensions with precision instruments; monitoring quality throughout the run
• Routine maintenance and troubleshooting to keep machines cutting
• Pitching in on manual machining (Bridgeport/manual lathe) when required
• Partnering in a team-oriented, cross-functional environment

Schedule & Shift Options

We support production demands with primarily 6-day work weeks, while maintaining a strong focus on work-life balance.

• CNC Mill Machinist – 1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (includes Bridgeport and manual lathe support)
• CNC Lathe Machinist – 3rd Shift: 9:00 PM – 7:00 AM in a 5-axis Okuma VTL environment (new hires train on days until ready for nights)

What You Bring

• 4+ years of CNC machining experience in a low-volume, high-mix environment
• Proven setup skill on mills and/or lathes
• Comfort editing at the control; strong blueprint reading and inspection abilities
• Experience with Heidenhain and/or Siemens controls preferred
• Exposure to CAM programming is a plus
• Proficiency with micrometers, calipers, and other precision gauges
• Journeyman card welcomed but not required
